A chance to fish, learn more about the sport and win prizes will be offered at the annual Fishing Day on Saturday, June 6, from 10 a.m. to noon at Stonewall.
The LBJ State Park and Historic Site at Stonewall in conjunction with the Kerrville Walmart will host the clinic.
The event will be held in the state park on the banks of the Pedernales River at the group picnic area on Ranch Road 1.
This facility is located adjacent (just east) of the LBJ State Park Dining Hall.
A short seminar on fishing will be presented.
The two-hour program will conclude with drawings provided by Kerrville Walmart.
Fishing equipment and worms will be provided, or participants may bring their own equipment and favorite bait.
Parents are encouraged to bring their children and enjoy a morning of fishing.
It was noted that no dogs will be allowed at the event.
The first Saturday in June of each year is designated as the annual “Free Fishing Day” and no person is required to possess a fishing license or stamp endorsement while fishing on that day on any public waters.
No fishing license or stamp endorsements are required regardless of age, while fishing from the banks in a state park or in waters completely enclosed by a state park.
