Three Fredericksburg residents, including a pair of recent Fredericksburg High School graduates, were killed in two separate motor vehicle accidents over the past two weeks.
Brandon Strackbein and Hayden Pfiester, both 20, were killed early Wednesday, May 27, on U.S. 87 South, north of Comfort.
Jan Budlong, 51, of Fredericksburg, and Deborah Ramaker, 48, of Austin died in a four-vehicle accident near Wildseed Farms, Sunday, May 24.
Comfort fatality wreck
An early morning accident led to the deaths of two local residents, Wednesday, May 27, on U.S. 87 South, seven miles north of Comfort.
A 2014 Chevy Malibu driven by Strackbein, heading southbound in the outside line, veered into northbound traffic around 3:30 a.m.
The vehicle then encountered a northbound 2015 tractor trailer driven by Guadalupe Torreros, 55, of Marion.
Simultaneously, Torreros veered to the left to avoid hitting Strackbein, who swerved to the right at the same time, causing a head-on collision.
Both Strackbein and his passenger, Pfiester, died at the scene.
Multi-vehicle accident
A four-vehicle incident which occurred around 7 p.m., Sunday, May 24, resulted in the deaths of two area residents near Wildseed Farms on U.S. 290 East.
