• Pilot Knob Extension Education Club will meet today at 9:30 a.m. at the Gillespie County Extension Building.The program will be reports given by the members who attended the Texas Extension Education Association State Conference.
• The Cherry Spring Community Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. today at the Cherry Spring Schoolhouse/Community Center.
• The 22nd Annual Texas Mesquite Association Art Festival will run this weekend at Marktplatz.. The festival is free and open to the public. Hours will be from noon to 6 p.m. today, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12.
• Fried fish with all the trimmings will be served by the Stonewall Volunteer Fire Department and First Responders on Saturday at the Stonewall Chamber of Commerce grounds. Serving begins at 5 p.m. at the 34th Annual Fall Fish Fry.
• First Baptist Church of Fredericksburg will host a child seat safety check this Saturday from 8:30-11:30 a.m. The church is at 1407 East Main Street.
• St. Mary’s Catholic School is hosting an Alumni Tailgate Party from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, at the St. Mary’s Holy Family Center. The party will be prior to the Apaches’ homecoming football game against the St. Anthony Saints.
• The Harper Community Park Association will host the Sixth Annual Harper Barbecue and Chili Cook-Off, benefiting the park on Friday and Saturday.
• The Gillespie County Farm Bureau will be hosting its annual meeting and barbeque starting at 3:30 p.m., Sunday at the Gillespie County Farm Bureau Events Hall.
• Three historic country schools will be open to the public on Sunday in conjunction with Edward Jones’ Tour de Ted charity bike tour. The Cave Creek, Nebgen and Willow City schools will be open for viewing from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday. Additionally, the Williams Creek (Albert) School will be open on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• The Meusebach Creek Community will have their annual hamburger supper at 3 p.m., Sunday at the Meusebach Creek School.
• St. Barnabas Episcopal Church will host an event in honor of St. Francis of Assisi. The church will bless animals during the event at 4 p.m., Sunday in the courtyard at the church located at 601 W. Creek St.

• The Battlin' Billie varsity tennis team will face Bandera at 4 p.m. today in Fredericksburg.
• Fredericksburg High School's play a series of matches against Devine. The varsity team will start action in Devine at 4:30 p.m., junior varsity and freshmen play at 6 p.m. The Billies will play another match Saturday against Devine in Hondo at 9 a.m.
• Fredericksburg High School's varsity football team will play Bandera tonight at 7:30 p.m. in Fredericksburg.
• The Fredericksburg varsity boys’ cross country team claimed first place at yesterdays meet in Lampasas. The girls’ varsity team took second place at the Lampasas Battlin’ Badger Cross Country Invitational. The junior varsity boys took first place in their division, and the junior varsity girls’ won third.
• Harper's varsity football team plays Sabinal tonight at 7:30 p.m. in Sabinal.
• Harper volleyball will play Medina tonight. The junior varsity team will start play at 4 p.m. and will be followed by the varsity team at 5 p.m. in Medina.
•The Harper high school and junior high school cross country teams will run in the Chocolate Milk Run on Saturday.
• Heritage football plays Seguin Lifegate at 7:30 p.m. in Seguin.
• St. Mary's football team will play St. Anthony in Fredericksburg at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
