Deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 4 general election is Monday, Oct. 6, according to the Texas Secretary of State’s office.
Early voting will be held Oct. 20-31. A photo ID is currently required for voting in person.
Persons wishing to register to vote may do so at the Gillespie County Clerk’s office. Persons also may download voter registration forms at www.votetexas.gov, though potential voters are advised it may take up to 30 days to register through state channels.
Eligibility
Persons are eligible to register to vote if they are a U.S. citizen, a resident of the county where the application is submitted, at least 18 years old on election day, not a convicted felon and have not been declared mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.
A Voter Unique Identifier (VUID) may be obtained in any Department of Public Safety office.
Acceptable ID
The Secretary of State’s office lists current forms of acceptable ID to show to election judges as:
• Texas driver license issued by the Texas DPS.
• Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS.
• Texas personal identification card issued by DPS.
• Texas concealed handgun license issued by DPS.
• United States military identification card containing the person’s photograph.
• U.S. citizenship certificate containing the person’s photograph.
• U.S. passport.
