Fredericksburg Middle School will host an Aim For Success program and an open house, Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 23-24.
Aim For Success, a national program, educates teens, parents and educators on topics such as abstinence education, drug prevention and anti-bullying.
The parent program will be from 6-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at the FMS Cafeteria. The student program for sixth through eighth grade will be throughout the day on Wednesday, Sept. 24.
The program addresses the problems of teen pregnancies, the escalating STD epidemic and the emotional pain that, Aim For Success described as “often associated with teen sexual activity.”
The parent program is a preview of the student presentation where parents will learn creative ways to talk about sex with their children and encourage them to avoid sexual activity until marriage.
“This is a must-see event for anyone concerned about the problems associated with teen sexual activity,” said Marilyn Morris, President of Aim For Success.
All FMS parents are encouraged to attend, and community guests are welcomed to the parent program.
FMS will also host an open house and a txConnect workshop on Wednesday, Sept. 24.
The open house for sixth grade students and their parents will be at 5:15 p.m. in the FMS Cafeteria.
For the seventh and eighth graders and their parents, the open house will be at 6:30 p.m. in the FMS Cafeteria.
Parents will be able to walk their child’s schedule and briefly meet with their teachers during the open house.
The txConnect workshop will give parents the opportunity to set up their account to view their child’s grades and attendance online.
The workshop will be in the FMS Library from 6-6:30 p.m. for seventh and eighth graders, and from 7:15-7:45 p.m. for sixth graders.
