Fredericksburg Independent School District will have a new leader at the helm beginning next week after the FISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved the hiring of Dr. Eric Wright as superintendent during a special meeting on Monday.
Wright, who served as Huntington ISD superintendent until his hiring by FISD, will begin on Monday, Jan. 13, as he transitions to take over from the retiring Dr. Marc Williamson, following 15 years as FISD’s superintendent.
“I truly think we have found the perfect candidate and that he will lead our district to success,” trustee Kay Stech said.
The board of trustees named Wright as the final candidate for the position on Dec. 11 after a search that saw over 60 candidates apply.
“I’m looking forward to working with our new superintendent and achieve our new goals and reach higher heights,” trustee Jerry Durst said.
