Daily Update for June 16

      • The Fredericksburg City Council approved the purchase of a two-acre tract of land adjacent to the city’s consolidated warehouse on Friendship Lane. The site, which was purchased for $300,000, will be used as a potential location for the Gillespie Central Appraisal District as well as room for future expansion of the warehouse.

      • Gillespie County A&M Club invites all Aggies and friends to join them at 6 p.m. tonight at West End Pizza Company for an evening of domino fellowship. Buy in for an individual is $5 per person or $10 for a team. All monies collected will be used toward providing scholarships for new Gillespie County Aggies.

      • Applications are now being accepted for the Fredericksburg Community Fourth of July Parade that will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 4, on Main Street. Those interested in participating are asked to submit an application with a brief description of the parade entry. There is no charge to enter that parade and the only requirement is the entry be patriotically decorated. Line-up for the parade will begin at 8 a.m. on July 4 behind the Gillespie County Courthouse. All entries are asked to be in place by 9 a.m. This year, the parade committee has chosen to honor local First Responders as the grand marshals. 
      Applications to participate in the Fredericksburg July Fourth Parade are available for pick-up at the Fredericksburg Visitor Information Center at 302 East Austin Street or can be downloaded from the official parade website at www.fbgparade.org. The applications should be returned no later than Thursday, July 2.
