Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site at Stonewall will offer a guided nature and wildlife tour and walk, Saturday, April 18, from 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Visitors are encouraged to plan for the morning outing and to bring the family to experience the Texas Hill Country. Visitors can expect to learn about native insects, plants and the wildflowers admired by Lady Bird Johnson.

“The landscape in the park is changing daily and becoming more colorful each day with an assortment of wildflowers,” said park superintendent Iris Neffendorf. “Those taking the walking tour are sure to see a good variety this spring. It is just amazing what Mother Nature has done this year.”

The park is reporting that some May wildflowers are beginning to pop up all around the park after some of the recent rain showers. Visitors of all ages are encouraged to participate.

LBJ State Park offers more than two miles of scenic walking trails by means of “Paseo Del Arroyo,” the Creek Walk Nature Trail. Mrs. Johnson helped establish it so the public would have an easier time visiting the park’s features.

The park suggests bringing sturdy shoes, a camera, binoculars, water and a field guide. Visitors are encouraged to pack a picnic lunch and plan to spend the day walking the nature trails to see the wildflowers and animals.
