• The Fredericksburg City Council awarded $290,000 in hotel occupancy tax funds to 24 applicants during their regular meeting Monday evening. Another $140,000 in funding will likely be divided between three organizations — the Friends of Gillespie County Country Schools, the Gillespie County Historical Society and the Texas Society for the Preservation of St. Joseph’s Halle — at the council’s Feb. 16 meeting.
Also at the meeting, the city decided to allocate an additional $100,000 from various departments to the city’s self-funded health insurance program.
• Fredericksburg High School and Texas A&M University — Corpus Christi will host a financial aid and Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) presentation today in the FHS Library. There will be two sessions open during the lunch hour for parents and students who would like help. The first session will be from 11:43 a.m. to 12:25 p.m., and the second will be 12:35-1:15 p.m.
• Fredericksburg Vintage Car Club will meet at 7 p.m. tonight at the Golden Hub Senior Center. Guest speaker will be Amanda Gutierrez of the McPherson College in McPherson, Kansas. Gutierrez will share information about the college’s automotive restoration program. Fredericksburg Vintage Car Club has made several donations throughout the years to this program from proceeds of the Annual Hill Country Swap Meet. Following a short business meeting, refreshments will be served.
• A "Basic Dog Obedience" class sponsored by Fredericksburg Independent School District community Education gets underway tonight and continues on Tuesdays through March 10. The class takes place from 6-7 p.m. at Marktplatz.
• Today is the deadline to sign up for a FISD Community Education-sponsored "Christmas on the Danube" trip. The trip takes place Dec. 3-11 and features a six-night cruise on the Danube River.

• Fredericksburg High School boys' basketball teams are hosting Boerne tonight. The freshmen play at 5 p.m., the JV at 6:15 p.m. and the varsity at 7:30 p.m.
• FHS girls' basketball teams will be in Boerne tonight where the freshmen will play at 5 p.m., the JV at 6:15 p.m. and the varsity at 7:30 p.m.
• Harper High School boys' and girls' basketball teams are traveling to Center Point tonight where the JV boys and JV girls will play at 5 p.m., the varsity girls at 6:15 p.m. and the varsity boys at 7:45 p.m.
• Heritage varsity basketball team is traveling to play Seguin Lifegate tonight at 6 p.m.
• The Super Senior Men's Golf Association will meet today at Lady Bird Johnson Golf Course.
