Daily Update for Nov. 21 and the Weekend

News 

     • Fredericksburg Independent School District Board of Trustees will meet in special session today at noon at the Central Administration Building. Among the agenda items is consideration and approval of the audit report of the school district's budget.

     • Fredericksburg Theater Company will host a fall showcase for its youth program, Fredericksburg Youth Theater, tonight and again on Saturday night at 7 p.m. at the Steve W. Shepherd Theater. The young performers will present a showcase of monologues, scenes and short plays rehearsed during the fall semester. No admission will be charged.

      • James Avery Jewelry will have a grand opening of their visitor center and store in Kerrville on Saturday from 1-5 p.m. at the store's corporate campus at 145 Avery Road North. The new store features a fresh, updated interior, combined with the traditional Hill Country architecture of the Avery campus. Visitors may enter a hourly drawing for a chance to win one of four $250 James Avery gift cards to be given away during the celebration. Six exhibit areas in the visitor center share the Avery story from its history and values to the inspiration and craftsmanship of its designs.

     • An evening of food, prize drawings, games, exhibits and more will be featured at the annual Gillespie County Wild Game Dinner on Saturday night at the Gillespie County Fair Grounds.Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets for the annual event are $20.

      • “Songwriters at St. Mary’s” event will be presented from 6-10 p.m. on Saturday at the St. Mary’s Holy Family Center. Singer songwriters Austin Cunningham and Renee Coale Willis will be featured at the event presented by Hope for the Future. Tickets are $75 and include dinner and entertainment.

     • A piano performance of “Songs of Thanksgiving” will be presented by Mark Hierholzer at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Hill Country Evangelical Free Church. All are welcome. Admission is by a suggested donation of $10 and no more than $30 per family. 
 
 
Sports

     • Fredericksburg High School girls' basketball teams will travel to Dripping Springs tonight where the freshmen play at 5:15 p.m., the JV plays at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity at 7 p.m. The freshmen and JV squads will play in the New Braunfels tournament on Saturday.

     • FHS boys' basketball teams will be hosting Canyon Lake on Saturday in the FHS Gym. The freshmen play at 10 a.m., the JV at 11:15 a.m. and the varsity at 12:30 p.m.

     • Harper varsity boys' and girls' basketball teams will travel to Knippa tonight where the girls will play at 6 p.m. and the boys at 7:30 p.m.

     • Heritage School football will play Seguin Lifegate at 7:30 p.m. tonight on the road in the sound round of the TAPPS Division III playoffs.

     • St. Mary's basketball will continue play in the Holy Spirit Tournament through Saturday.
