• Hill Country Red Hatters will meet at 11:30 a.m. today at the Pecan Street Brewery in Johnson City for their monthly luncheon.
• Fredericksburg Akkordeon Klub will resume monthly meetings tonight at 6 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Halle. All local accordion players are invited to attend.
• Registration continues for the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce's annual member-guest “Greens & Grapes” Golf Tournament, presented by Crenwelge Motor Company, on Oct. 3-4 at Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Golf Course. Cost for members for a two-person team is $375 and players can register using the link in the chamber’s weekly e-newsletter, by visiting the chamber office at 302 East Austin or calling 997-6523. The “Greens” portion of the event includes a shotgun start tournament beginning at 9 a.m., Friday. On Saturday, players, plus one guest each, will be treated to the “Grapes” portion of the event with a special behind-the-scenes tour at an area winery or bourbon distillery.
• Fredericksburg and Harper High School Bands marched in the Hill Country Marching Festival on Saturday. A wrap-up and photographs from that event are included in this week's Fredericksburg Standard-Radio Post along with pictures from the NFL Punt, Pass and Kick competition and more.
• A busy weekend is coming up and this week's paper includes stories on First Friday Art Walk Fredericksburg, Oktoberfest, the Kraut Run, St. Joseph's Halle Craft Show and Sale and more.
• In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, this week's Standard-Radio Post includes a feature on Emily Ottmers and her battle with cancer.

• Fredericksburg High School and Fredericksburg Middle School cross country teams will be competing in the Mason Invitational in the Fort Mason City Park today starting at 4 p.m.
• Fredericksburg High School varsity volleyball defeated Hondo, 25-16, 20-25, 25-13, 25-18, on Tuesday night. The FHS JV team won, 29-27, 25-13, and the freshmen also came away with the win, 25-7, 25-11.
• The FHS tennis team lost to New Braunfels High School yesterday afternoon in New Braunfels. The Billies lost the match 10-1 (18-1).
• Harper High School varsity volleyball defeated Center Point on Tuesday night, 21-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-18.
• Heritage School volleyball defeated Waldorf School in Austin, 25-18, 25-11, 25-21.
• St. Mary's volleyball will travel to play St. Monica today starting at 4:30 p.m.
