• Fredericksburg Writers Conference will meet from 6-8 p.m. tonight at the Hill Country University Center. The program will include a guided discussion about point of view and updates by members on their progress. The feature presentation will be presented by Ken Esten Cooke, editor and publisher of the Fredericksburg Standard-Radio Post.
• Civil Air Patrol, the volunteer civilian auxiliary of the United States Air Force, is recruiting members for the cadet program in Fredericksburg. Young men and women from the ages of 12-18 years receive training in leadership, aerospace, emergency service, basic military drill and discipline. An orientation session for interested participants and their parents will be held at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Zion Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall.
• The Newcomers’ Out To Dinner group will host their monthly meeting tonight at The Cafe At The Ridge on Ranch Road 783 (the Harper highway), outside of Kerrville, beginning at 6 p.m.
• Fredericksburg Independent School District Community Education will sponsor "Ms. Grumbles' Afterschool Activity Action" today from 4-6 p.m. at the Fredericksburg Primary School. The session is for Pre-K and kindergarten students. Theme for today is "Fall Festival."

• Fredericksburg High School JV and freshmen football teams will be playing LaGrange tonight. The JV will play in the FHS Stadium at 7:30 p.m. while the freshmen will be on the road for a 6 p.m. game.
• FHS JV tennis will play Kerrville Tivy today in Kerrville starting at 4:30 p.m.
• Fredericksburg Middle School seventh and eighth grade football teams will be playing Llano tonight. The seventh graders will be in Llano and the eighth graders will play in the FHS Stadium. The White team plays at 4:30 p.m. and the Red team at 6 p.m.
• Harper JV and Junior High football teams will be hosting Johnson City tonight. The seventh graders play at 5 p.m., the eighth graders at 6:30 p.m. and the JV at 8 p.m.
• Heritage School varsity volleyball will play San Marcos at home tonight at 6:30 p.m. Heritage Logic plays at 5:30 p.m.
• Heritage Junior High football will host San Antonio Castle Hills tonight at 6 p.m.
• St. Mary's volleyball is playing Providence today in the SMS Gym starting at 4:30 p.m.
