News 

     • Ty Franklin and Delta Wise were crowned the Homecoming King and Queen on Friday night during the Fredericksburg High School Homecoming celebration.

     • Gillespie County Commissioners will hold a regular meeting today at 9 a.m. at the county courthouse to approve the budget and tax rates for fiscal year 2015. County officials will also consider the purchase of computers and data equipment for the new jail.

      • The Fredericksburg City Council will hold a special joint meeting with the Planning and Zoning Commission and Historic Review Board tonight at 5:30 p.m. in the Gillespie County Law Enforcement Center. The focus of the second comprehensive plan issues meeting will be on the city’s sidewalks and trails master plan.

     •  School pictures for Fredericksburg High School freshmen, sophomores and juniors are being taken today. Lifetouch School Photography will be set up in the library to take the school pictures.

      • A "Country and Western Dance for Beginners" class starts tonight and continues on Mondays and Wednesdays through Oct. 8. Sponsored by the Fredericksburg Independent School District Community Education, the class will be held from 7-8 p.m. at the FPS Gym.

     • FISD Community Education is also hosting an "Intermediate Country and Western Dance" class starting tonight and continuing on Mondays and Wednesdays through Oct. 8. This class will be held from 8-9 p.m. in the FPS Gym.

Sports

       • Fredericksburg High School varsity football won its Homecoming game against Llano on Friday night, 30-0, in the FHS Stadium.

      •  FHS varsity volleyball fell to San Angelo Central, 25-27, 22-25, 27-29, on Friday night. The JV lost, 21-25, 25-16, 25-27.

      • The Battlin’ Billie cross country team competed in the Six Flags/Ricardo Romo Classic in San Antonio on Saturday. The girls’ team placed third in its division and the boys placed fourth at the meet.
 

      • The FHS tennis team defeated Brownwood 10-3 (15-4) in a home match on Saturday in Mason.

     • Fredericksburg Middle School seventh and eighth grade volleyball teams will be on the road to Boerne tonight. The B games are at 5 p.m. and the A games at 6 p.m.

     • Harper High School varsity football lost to Sonora, 36-7, on Friday night.
 
     • Harper varsity volleyball defeated Leakey, 25-19, 25-11, 25-16, on Friday.
 
      • Harper Junior High volleyball will host Hunt at 5 p.m. today.

     • Heritage School football lost to San Antonio Feast, 38-22, on Friday night.
 
      • Heritage varsity volleyball defeated Grace Academy 25-7, 25-11, 25-5.

This week's Fredericksburg Standard-Radio Post will include a story about Barbara Crenwelge who has been diagnosed with ALS.
