The Fredericksburg City Council will hold a special joint meeting with the Planning and Zoning Commission tonight at 5 p.m. at the Gillespie County Law Enforcement Center to receive a presentation on the comprehensive plan update from consultant Design Workshop.
At 7 p.m., the council will hold its regular meeting, where second readings will be held on proposed ordinances about lighting standards, parking regulations, school zone speed limits and speed limit changes on RM 1631.
The County of Gillespie is undergoing a phone system changeover and upgrade today that is expected to take hours to complete and cause telephone system disruptions affecting both voice and fax service. The changeover includes the offices in the Gillespie County Courthouse, Pioneer Memorial Library, Annex 1, Annex 2, Jail, Dispatch and Law Enforcement Center. American Legion, Louis Jordan Post 244, will meet tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the post home. Representatives from The Wounded Warriors at Nebo will brief the Legion about their organization and mission.
First Baptist Spanish Church will host Vacation Bible School starting tonight and continuing through Friday from 6-8 p.m. for youth ages five to 12. Those needing a ride are asked to call 997-8335.
Fredericksburg Independent School District Community Education is hosting a "Sewing and Craft Camp for Girls" in grades three to eight starting today and continuing through Thursday. The camp will take place from 1-4 p.m. at Fredericksburg High School.
"Dinosaur Roarrr Camp" takes place today through Thursday at FHS for youngsters in grades one to four. The camp is under the direction of the FISD Community Education. Sessions are from 8-10 a.m. and from 10 a.m. to noon.
FISD Community Education's "Awesome Art Camp" for pre-K through seventh graders begins today and continues through Thursday at the Fredericksburg Middle School. Sessions are from 9-10:30 a.m., from noon to 2 p.m. and from 2-4 p.m.
