Horses back on race track for weekend meet

Two days of live pari-mutuel horse racing returns to the Gillespie County Fair Grounds on Saturday and Sunday, July 19-20.

Quarter horses and thoroughbreds will be back on the track at the Class III facility for the Night In Old Fredericksburg Race Meet.

Gates open at 11 a.m. and post time is 1 p.m.

The second of four scheduled race meets is being held in conjunction with Night In Old Fredericksburg.

Both the race meet and NIOF are sponsored by the Gillespie County Fair and Festivals Association, Inc.

Advance tickets for the races and Night In Old Fredericksburg are now available online at www.gillespiefair.com.

For the weekend, adult general admission for the races and daytime activities is $7, reserved seats are $10 per seat and box seats are $15.

Adult general admission after 6 p.m. on Saturday is $10.

Admission is $3 for children six to 15 years of age and free for children five and under.

Several special races will be run during the two-day race meet.
