| News • Gillespie County Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. this morning at the Gillespie County Courthouse. Commissioners will consider hiring a part-time deputy in the Gillespie County Sherriff’s Office. Commissioners will also consider approval of a contract with Ebsco Industries, Inc. for magazine subscriptions as well as approval of a contract for services with Harper Library. • Stonewall Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Membership Banquet tonight at the Stonewall Chamber Building. The event begins with a social at 6 p.m. followed by the dinner and program at 7 p.m. Michael Barr, special ranger with the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, will be the guest speaker. During the banquet, the Golden Service and the Outstanding Citizen awards will be presented. Tickets for the banquet are $15 per person. • Fredericksburg Independent School District Community Education will sponsor a "First Brush — The Fundamentals of Oil Painting" workshop today through Thursday at instructor Chuck Mauldin's studio. The class will be from 1:30-4 p.m.
Sports • Fredericksburg High School varsity boys’ basketball team defeated Devine, 66-40, on Friday night. • FHS varsity girls' basketball team fell to Devine, 47-43, at home last Friday night. • The FHS JV girls' soccer team will host Lanier tonight at 4:30 p.m. • Fredericksburg Middle School seventh and eighth grade girls' and boys' basketball teams will play Boerne tonight. The girls will host Boerne in the FHS Gym tonight while the boys will be on the road. B games are at 5 p.m. and A games at 6 p.m. • Heritage Logic boys' and girls' basketball teams will play Trinity on the road night. Games begin at 5 p.m.
