Travis Kilcoyne, a member of the Fredericksburg High School Varsity Choir, will perform with the Texas All-State Choir in San Antonio, Saturday, Feb. 13, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center as part of the 2016 Texas Music Educators Association Clinic/Convention.
He was chosen for this honor through a competitive process held this year across the state at district, region and area levels. He was selected as first chair bass.
Kilcoyne sings at FHS under the direction of Michele Stehling who is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, a 12,000-plus member organization headquartered in Austin.
This is Kilcoyne’s first time to perform as a member of a TMEA All-State organization.
He is the son of Sue Kilcoyne.
Two other FHS Varsity Choir members were selected as alternates, including Makayla Gonzalez, alto, first alternate, and Rebecca Sechrist, soprano, second alternate.
High school students selected to perform in the All-State concerts have competed through several levels of auditions beginning in the fall of 2015 to qualify at the state level.
All-State is the highest honor a Texas music student can receive.
