| News • Gillespie County Commissioners are meeting this morning at the Gillespie County Courthouse. Commissioners will consider approval of a proposal from the Gillespie Central Appraisal District Board of Directors to purchase land and office building located on Wellness Court in Fredericksburg. Also, commissioners will consider approval of a request to install proposed improvements on the county’s right-of-way on Post Oak Road and Live Oak Road. • Fredericksburg Independent School District Board of Trustees will meet at 7 p.m. tonight at the Central Administration Building. Prior to the meeting, the trustees will do a walk-through of the FISD Agricultural Science Center. The trustees will consider for approval several items including the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas 2014-2015 FISD ratings, 2016-2017 Gillespie Central Appraisal District Directors, a GCAD proposal for purchase of land and a building and the May 7, 2017, FISD trustee election. • Gillespie County Retired Teachers Association will meet today at 2:15 p.m. at the Golden Hub for a Christmas party. The Ars Nova Choir from Fredericksburg High School will perform. Members are reminded to bring snacks. • Fredericksburg High School and Middle School Choirs will present a Christmas Concert at 7 p.m. tonight at First Baptist Church. The event is free, but donations to the Hill Country Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will be accepted. Noah Detterman will perform a medley of Christmas music on the piano before the concert. • The deadline to file to run in the 2016 county political primary races is today. The terms of county attorney, county tax assessor-collector, county sheriff, two county commissioners and two county constables are open for new four-year terms. Gillespie County political party primaries are set for March 1, 2016. The primary elections define party candidates ahead of the Nov. 8, 2016, general election. Sports • Fredericksburg High School varsity girls' went 1-3 in the Fredericksburg Tournament Thursday through Saturday. • The FHS varsity boys' basketball team went 1-3 in the Canyon Lake Tournament Thursday through Saturday. • Fredericksburg Middle School seventh and eighth grade girls' and boys' basketball teams will play Hondo tonight. The boys will be on the road and the girls will play at home. The B games are at 5 p.m. and the A games are at 6 p.m. • Harper High School boys' captured the championship trophy at the Sonora Tournament Thursday through Saturday. • Harper Junior High boys' and girls' basketball teams will play San Saba tonight. The boys will play at home and the girls will be on the road. Games start at 5 p.m. • Heritage Logic boys' and girls' basketball teams will host Covenant tonight. Games start at 4 p.m. • St. Mary's boys' and girls' basketball teams will be on the road to play St. John Bosco tonight with games beginning at 4:30 p.m.
