      • Fredericksburg City Council on Monday night approved a conditional use permit to allow a hotel/motel in the Central Business District (CBD) located at 406 E. Main. Council members also approved a request by Penick Real Estate to change the zoning on their land, located on either side of Friendship Lane past the Fredericksburg High School, to allow a multi-family residential area on the north side of Friendship Lane and a commercial area on the south side. 

      • In an audit report presented by Patrick Klein of Klein Kraus and Co LLC at a Nov. 16 special meeting, the Fredericksburg Independent School District received a “clean opinion” in the audit of its 2014-2015 fiscal year. On Friday, the board of trustees will have another special meeting to vote on whether to approve the audit report.

      • American Legion Auxiliary Unit 244 will meet at 11:30 a.m. today at K-Bob’s Steakhouse. Lunch will be Dutch treat.

      • Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI)-Texas Tech University (TTU) Hill Country will offer a class titled, "Budgetary and Economic Effects of Federal Tax Policy," from 2-3:30 p.m. today at the TTU Higher Education Teaching Site in Fredericksburg (broadcast to Junction and Marble Falls). The fee for the class is $15 for OLLI members and $30 for non-members. This class will teach about tax policy, who pays the most taxes, how tax cuts occur, how taxes affect the economy and much more. Instructor is Robert Rickets, Ph.D., the director of the School of Accounting and the Frank M. Burke Chair in taxation at the Rawls College of Business at TTU in Lubbock.       • Representatives from Our Lady of the Hills Regional Catholic High School will be available for an information session from 6:30-7:30 p.m. tonight at St. Mary’s Church Holy Family Center. The session will start with Thérèse Schwarz, principal of OLH, followed by Chris Ramirez, athletic director, and Susie McCalla, director of admissions. They will give an overview of the high school, student activities and admissions guidelines.

      • Save Our Scenic Hill Country Environment (SOSHCE) will host an informational meeting at 7 p.m. tonight in the Central Texas Electric Cooperative Community Room. The presentations will focus on SOSHCE’s on-going efforts to actively monitor industrial wind and transmission developments, and to help keep landowners, public officials and others informed.

Sports

      • Fredericksburg High School girls' basketball teams will be on the road to Kerrville tonight where the freshman and JV will play at 5:15 p.m. and the varsity at 6:30 p.m.

      • The FHS boys' basketball team will host Jourdanton tonight in the FHS Gym. The freshman play at 5 p.m. followed by the JV at 6:15 p.m. and the varsity at 7:30 p.m.

      • Harper girls' basketball teams will be in Llano tonight where the JV will play at 5 p.m. and the varsity at 6:15 p.m.
