Gillespie County Commissioners on Monday approved the hiring of a dispatcher for the Gillespie County Communications Center.
The dispatcher, Rebecca Goff, will start work on Monday, Nov. 23.
“After this new hire, we will have a total of 13 dispatchers,” said Les Metzler, director of dispatch for the communications center. “We plan to hopefully have two more dispatchers soon to bring us to full capacity.”
Metzler said advertisement for the position is on the county’s website, listed under employment opportunities.
Commissioners also approved the nomination of Tony Klein to the Gillespie Central Appraisal District Board of Directors. Klein is one of five members on the board, having served for the past six years. Other members are Tim Dooley (chairman), Donald Davis, Wayne Harrell and Jim McAfee.
Purchases for the sheriff’s office
County commissioners approved the purchase of five patrol vehicles for the Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office. The total cost of each vehicle will be $42,500, according to Sheriff Buddy Mills.
