A number of galleries will be offering special events on Friday, Oct. 2, as part of the First Friday Art Walk Fredericksburg celebration.

Participating galleries will feature demonstrations, art talks, receptions, visits with the artists and more.

Gallery hours will vary.

For more information and the latest news from participating galleries, visit www.FFAWF.com.

Participating galleries will be flying the Art Walk flags.

The following galleries have submitted information concerning their First Friday Art Walk events:

Agave Gallery —Fine Art. Texas Style!, 208 East San Antonio, will feature artist Connie Stephens. She uses natural stones to create one-of-a-kind jewelry designs.

Inspired from her love of the Southwest, she combines stones, metalsmithing and both ancient and new techniques to create art for the body.

A reception will be held from 5-8 p.m.

Agave Gallery opens at 10 a.m. and is located one block south of Main Street at 208 East San Antonio, between Lincoln and Llano streets.

Artisans —A Texas Gallery, 234 West Main, will showcase “Crows Encounters and Amazing Whimsies,” featuring painter Doreen Shann and kinetic sculptor.

Shann, a former Olympic athlete and Texan, via her native New Zealand, brings a fanciful new series of paintings featuring the adventures of the crow in both pastels and oils.

Ralph Moresco, master of metals and kinetic energy, will fill the courtyard and gallery with spinning copper wind spirals in new designs.

An artist reception will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday. Refreshments will be served.

Eleven Squared Venue, 408 North Llano, will feature two of its 11 artists during a grand opening reception beginning at 2 p.m., Friday.

Lynn Connolly of Wichita Falls and Roxanna Tuff of New Braunfels will be available to discuss their work.

Two framed pieces will be given away and chance tickets can be purchased for $11.

Connolly is a landscape artist inspired by 19th century tonalists and Tuff’s compositions are a reflection of personal histories and often celebrate both the past and the present moment.

Giveaways include two framed pieces – an “Autumn in the Mountains” landscape painting by the late Sandra Hogue, and a 1981 Oktoberfest poster by the late Lee Ethel of Fredericksburg.

Chance tickets can be purchased on site at the Eleven Squared Venue all weekend and the winner will be awarded on Sunday.

Fredericksburg Art Gallery, 314 East Main, will feature “Skies Proclaim,” a collection of new mixed media works featuring big skies and abstract landscapes by Jill Holland.

An opening reception will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday. Wine from Grape Creek Vineyards, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served.

The exhibit will hang throughout the month of October.
