The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) will showcase World War II aircraft, Friday through Monday, Sept. 4-7, at the Gillespie County Airport.

Among the aircraft at the show will be Texas Raiders, including the B-17 Flying Fortress, B-25 Mitchell bomber Yellow Rose, the P-51 Mustang fighter “Pecos Bill,” a T-6 Texan trainer and an L-17A Navion transport.

Beginning each day at 10 a.m., Saturday through Monday, Sept. 5-7, the public can visit the aircraft and for a nominal admission fee and can take walk-through tours that include commentary from crew members.

The Gillespie County Airport is located at 217 Airport Road, off of Texas 16 South.

Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children under 12 or $20 for a family of up to five members.

World War II veterans and active duty service men and women with military ID may tour for free.

Tours of all five aircraft will be available to the public as will the chance to ride in the bombers and trainers.

Flights on the trainers begin at $75; flights in the bombers start at $450.

Attendees who want the ultimate “Living History Flight Experience” can make a reservation now for one of the limited number of approximately 30-minute flights on the aircraft.
