A San Angelo man charged with shooting Fredericksburg police officer Bradley Durst in April 2014 has reportedly declined a plea deal, according to a KENS5 San Antonio television news report confirmed by Durst’s family.
Robert Rendon, 31, awaits trial in 216th District Court on attempted capital murder charges following the shooting of Durst, who stopped Rendon for traffic violations on East Main Street.
After shooting Durst in the abdomen and neck, Rendon fled the county, leading area law enforcement officials on a multi-county chase that ended when he crashed and was arrested by Bexar County police in San Antonio.
Durst has since recovered from his injuries and returned to active duty with the Fredericksburg Police Department.
