State District 24 Senator Troy Fraser, a Republican from Horseshoe Bay, announced Tuesday that he will not seek re-election to the Texas Legislature after 27 years of public service, including 23 years in the state legislature.
“The end of session has provided me a meaningful opportunity to reflect not only upon the past 140 days, but also the past 27 years,” Fraser said in a letter to constituents.
“There comes a time when leaders must take a look back at the trail they have blazed and reflect on all they have done. There also comes a time when leaders must allow others the opportunity to leave their mark. Today marks that time for me.”
Fraser served as a committee chairman for 16 of his 18 years in the Texas Senate, overseeing economic development, water, oil and gas, the electric market, insurance, real estate, banking, air quality, telecommunications and the cable industry.
