FHS baccalaureate

service set for Sunday

The baccalaureate worship service for Fredericksburg High School’s graduating seniors will be at 6 p.m., this Sunday, May 31, at First Baptist Church.

Gillespie County Ministerial Association (GCMA), an ecumenical group, will sponsor the service. Clergy members throughout the community will participate in the service, which is open to the public.

The church is at 1407 East Main Street.

“The Sunday before graduation, pastors and musicians from various churches provide a time of worship as seniors begin the countdown to graduation night,” said Rev. Bobby Vitek, president of the GCMA and pastor of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. “We will sing, pray and hear a timely message based on various scripture passages.”

The FHS seniors should arrive at 5:30 p.m. with their graduation gown.

The Rev. Scott Janysek, vicar at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, will present the message. Along with the message, the service will also include scripture readings and music.

There will be congregational hymn singing and special music provided by the FHS Choir soloists. They will sing “Ave Maria.”
