  • UPDATE: The names of the husband and wife involved in a family violence disturbance/death call in Gillespie County have been released. Deceased from probable gunshot wounds to the chest is Michael G. Bowlin, 45, of 460 Kristen Lane near Harper, according to Lt. Jim Judd, chief deputy with the Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office. Bowlin’s wife, Aimee Bowlin, 42, suffered a stab wound to her leg in the same incident and was airlifted to University Hospital in San Antonio, Judd said. She reported the incident with a 911 call at 4:20 p.m. Sunday afternoon, May 26.
  • Meeting in special session on Tuesday evening, the Fredericksburg City Council received a presentation from utility rate consultant, HDR Engineering of Austin.
  • Registration for the Pedernales Youth Soccer Association's fall 2013 season will take place today from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Gillespie County Law Enforcement Center. Those unable to register tonight will have a second opportunity on Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to noon at the LEC.
  • The Fredericksburg Standard-Radio Post is continuing to cover the issue of drugs in the community. This week, Detective Linda Lively and Officer Chris Ayala share their thoughts on the issue.
  • Residents and visitors alike paused on Monday to commemorate Memorial Day. Photos from the annual Memorial Day program at the National Museum of the Pacific War are included in this week's newspaper.
  • It was a Cajun celebration on Marktplatz over the weekend when the Fredericksburg Jaycees hosted the Crawfish Festival. Photos from that event along with end-of-school activities and more are included in this week's issue of the newspaper.
