Riders will be gathering here and saddling up on Friday and Saturday, March 6-7, for The Original Texas Star Trail from Fredericksburg.
The week-long 112-mile ride will take participants across 40 cattle guards and through more than 20 Hill Country ranches, including the LBJ Ranch at Stonewall.
Participants will gather on Friday at the Gillespie County Fair Grounds before starting the first leg of their trip at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
On the first day, the group will travel 17 miles to Luckenbach where they will camp for the night.
While at Luckenbach, the group will have dinner followed by a Wagon Medallion presentation and dance featuring the music of Dusty Britches and the Rhythm Ranch Hands.
Then, on Sunday, the riders will travel 10 miles to Stonewall where they will camp at Burg’s Corner.
The group is expected to arrive in Stonewall around 1 p.m. on Sunday where they will have lunch and dinner, cowboy music and a camp-fire.
The ride continues on Monday, March 9, with a 14-mile ride from Stonewall to Johnson City and the 5Hands Ranch campsite.
After Johnson City, the group will travel 18 miles to Blanco on March 10; 15 miles from Blanco to Fischer on March 11, and 17 miles from Fischer to Wimberley on March 12.
A “play day” is scheduled for Friday, March 13, followed by a March 14 departure.
