Town named among 'best places to retire'

Forbes.com ranked Fredericksburg 14th in its 2014 list of 25 Best Places to Retire.

Fredericksburg was one of four Texas towns on the list.

The website listed Fredericksburg’s pros as warm climate, above-average air quality, cost of living five percent below national average, median home price $138,000, low crime and a high “walkability” rank.

Named after Prince Frederick of Prussia, the city had no listed cons.

Other Lone Star State towns included Abilene (first), Austin (third) and San Angelo (22nd).

Among the other cities making the Forbes.com list were Venice, Florida; Tucson, Arizona; Salt Lake City; Pittsburgh and Oklahoma City.
