Tickets remain available for this Saturday’s Admiral Nimitz Foundation annual symposium discussing “In Stealth We Trust: Special Forces and Their Origins in WWII.”
The Sept. 20 symposium will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Fredericksburg Theater Company, 1668 U.S. 87 South.
Maj. Gen. Gary Harrell (U.S. Army, ret.) will be the guest speaker. He was a Delta Force Commander, and his career of almost 35 years took him to every post-Vietnam hot spot, including Grenada, Panama, Iraq, Somalia and Afghanistan.
Harrell was a commander during the 1993 battle of Mogadishu when two Black Hawk helicopters were shot down. He also sustained wounds there.
This event is part one of a two-part symposium on Special Forces.
This year’s topics will include:
• 8:05 a.m. — An Historical overview of Special Forces;
• 8:35 a.m. — Underwater Demolition Teams and the Navy SEAL;
