• Fredericksburg Farmer's Market will be open today from 4-7 p.m. on Marktplatz.
• The City of Fredericksburg has released the Proposed 2014-15 Budget. It is posted on the city’s website at fbgtx.org and copies are available at City Hall. A public hearing on the proposed budget will be held at the city council meeting on Monday night, Aug. 18, at 7 p.m. at the Gillespie County Law Enforcement Center.
• Fredericksburg Volunteers in Police Support will meet tonight at the Gillespie County Law Enforcement Center. The board of directors meeting begins at 6 p.m. followed by the general membership business meeting at 6:30 p.m.
• The 126th Gillespie County Fair opens in just one week, Thursday through Sunday, Aug. 21-24. More information on the fair as well as entering items in the various divisions can be found in the Blue Ribbon Summer magazine. Copies of the magazine are available at the Fredericksburg Standard-Radio Post, the Gillespie County Fair Grounds and at other locations around town.

• Fredericksburg High School varsity volleyball is competing in the Austin ISD Tournament today through Saturday.
• The Heritage volleyball team will square off against Johnson City tonight. The junior varsity will begin its game at 4 p.m. while varsity starts at 5 p.m. in Johnson City.
