Two ensembles will be featured at the Dialogues and Dances concert on Saturday, Aug. 9, at the Hill Country University Center.

Included on the program will be the Summer Workshop Ensemble and the Avenue Ensemble.

The Summer Workshop Ensemble will sing works by Brahms, Haydn, Derufle, Faure and director, Mark Hierholzer.

The Summer Workshop Ensemble is made up of singers from the Fredericksburg Chorale who choose to work on new literature during the chorale’s regular summer break.

Featured pieces will include “How Lovely Is Thy Dwelling Place” from Brahms’ German Requiem, “Cantique de Jean Racine” by Faure and Haydn’s “Te Deum.”

In addition, the ensemble will perform a new work by Hierholzer for piano, flute, accordion and choir called “Guacamole Cantata.”

This piece is a somewhat tongue-and cheek work modeled after Bach’s secular cantatas such as his “Coffee Cantata” and “Peasant Cantata,” Hierholzer said.
