“Service is our business, taking care of our customers in the Texas Hill Country.”

That’s how Jimmy Duecker describes his company, Allied Agricultural Services in Stonewall.

What Allied Ag sells can be described in one word: agricultural. This includes fertilizer, herbicides, feed, seed and farm chemicals.

Allied Ag began on the Lyndon Baines Johnson Ranch as Hill Country Fertilizer and was affiliated with Allied Chemical. It eventually moved outside the ranch into Stonewall and was transferred to Dale Malecheck, LBJ’s ranch foreman.

Around 1970, the ownership changed and re-branded the business Allied Agricultural Services.

Duecker began working for Malecheck in 1975 and in 1978 became a part-owner. Then, in the early 1980s, he bought out the Malecheck family and became full owner.

“I’m the only one in Gillespie County that does liquid and herbicide application to any large extent,” Duecker said. “There aren’t many of us left in the state of Texas, or especially in the Hill Country. There are other businesses in the county that do some, but we offer a full line of fertilizer blended for custom needs and the application of herbicides for the fields. We’re also the largest supplier of the farm chemicals for the orchards and vineyards and other farmers in the Hill Country area.”
