News

• Individuals needing continuing education units toward the renewal of their private pesticide applicator license will have the opportunity to earn one hour of credit in Laws and Regulations this evening. The program will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Gillespie County Agricultural Extension Building. Cost is $10, which is payable at the door.

•  Fredericksburg High School will present three performances of the musical “Grease” this weekend with 7 p.m. performances Thursday and Saturday and a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee. With the Fredericksburg varsity football team advancing to the area playoffs, the performance originally scheduled for Friday has been moved to tonight. Baked cookies sold during intermission will benefit the 2013 summer drama trip to New York.

• Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce’s Membership Committee is hosting its quarterly Chamber Orientation this morning at the Hill Country University Center.

• Thanksgiving is one week from today, and everyone is busy preparing for the holiday. Because of the holiday on Thursday, Nov. 28, the Fredericksburg Standard-Radio Post will be published one day early next week — on Tuesday. The deadline for submitting news items and display advertisements for the Thanksgiving issue is Friday while the classified advertising deadline is Monday morning.

• Want to go to the Fredericksburg High School varsity football playoff game on Friday night in Cedar Park but don't want to drive? For the game, individuals can reserve a seat on a bus that is heading to the game. The cost for a seat is $25. To reserve a seat, email tiffbeard@gmail.com or ahartmann6@austin.rr.com.

• Fredericksburg High School varsity girls' basketball team is playing in the American Bank of Texas Tournament today through Saturday.

• Fredericksburg Middle School seventh and eighth grade girls' basketball teams are opening their season tonight with games in Mountain Valley. The B games are at 5 p.m. and the A games at 6 p.m.

• FMS boys' basketball teams will open their season at home tonight against Mountain Valley. The B games are at 5 p.m. and the A games at 6 p.m.

• St. Mary's girls' A and boys' A teams are playing in the Holy Spirit Tournament today through Saturday.

• Heritage Middle School basketball teams are hosting Geneva tonight at First Baptist Church. Play begins at 4:30 p.m. with the girls A followed by boys B at 5:30 p.m. and boys A at 6:30 p.m.
