Fredericksburg High School seniors Amanda Hinton and Olivia McGowen gained recognition across Texas as they each took fourth place in their individual events at the University Interscholastic League Academic Meet held in Austin, Tuesday and Wednesday, May 21-22.
Hinton competed in editorial writing where the goal was to take a position on a controversial issue, write an opinion and back it up with sources.
McGowen’s competition was prose interpretation. Participants in the event give stories new life by reading stories aloud to a group of people.
