Spectrum Winds, a component of the U.S. Air Force Band of the West, will perform Sunday, Jan. 17, at the Fredericksburg United Methodist Church.
Set for 3 p.m., the performance is the fourth of eight 2015-2016 concert season programs hosted by the Fredericksburg Music Club (FMC).
Seating begins on a first-come basis in the sanctuary of the church, beginning at 2:30 p.m.
The concert is free although goodwill offerings are welcome.
As part of the afternoon program, the five-member Spectrum Winds ensemble will explore the diverse world of chamber music for winds, drawing on a long heritage of chamber music, contemporary jazz, pop music, marches and patriotic favorites, said a spokesman.
Composed of MSgt Cynthia A. Bailey, flute; Senior Airman Kathleen Keese, oboe; Senior Airman Emily Matter, bassoon; Airman First Class Randolph Palada, clarinet, and MSgt Hughey Hancock, French horn, the quintet will give a program of pieces by John Philip Sousa, Francis Scott Key, J.S. Bach and W.C. Handy, among others.
Other venues hosting Spectrum Winds have included official military ceremonies and functions, educational outreach at elementary and junior high schools, recruiting concerts at high schools and college campuses and outreach engagements in local communities.
