The Texas Volkssport Association will allow walkers to start 2016 on the right foot with two special walks on New Year’s Eve.
Cost for each walk is $3. There will also be a prize drawing for shoes from San Antonio Shoemakers.
The Memorial Walk is scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 31 and is headquartered at St. Joseph’s Halle, 212 W. San Antonio St.
In the Memorial Walk, people can reflect on friends or family who have died during the past year. Anyone can start the trek between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., but all walkers must be finished and off the route by 5 p.m.
There is a 5K and 10K option for walkers.
As the clocks chime mid-night and fireworks explode to greet 2016, the Volkssport group will continue a tradition over a decade old.
