Daily Update for Monday, Sept. 9

News

  • Gillespie County Commissioners are meeting this morning at 9 a.m. at the Gillespie County Courthouse. Commissioners will work through a lengthy agenda that includes adopting the budget and property tax rate for the 2014 fiscal year
  • Fredericksburg Independent School District Board of Trustees meet tonight at 7 p.m. at the Central Administration Office. Among the agenda items, trustees will be discussing the Band Boosters-sponsored trip and changes to the student drug use policy.
  • The Fredericksburg City Council is meeting at 5 p.m. today in special session to discuss revoking the permit for Armadillo Taxi.
  • Story time resumes this morning at Pioneer Memorial Library at 9:30 a.m., 10:15 a.m. and 11 a.m. (toddlers only). Story time will also be held Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. and Wednesdays at 9 a.m., 9:45 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
  • National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association will meet this evening at 5:30 p.m. at Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park's Pavilion 3.
  • Catholic Daughters will host the first meeting of their 2013-2014 season tonight in the St. Mary’s Holy Family Center. The gathering will start at 6 p.m. with a meal, followed by the meeting.
  • Daughters of the Republic of Texas’ Dr. Wilhelm Keidel Chapter, Fredericksburg, will meet tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Leta Ann Thaxton Metzger.

Sports

  • Fredericksburg High School varsity football team defeated San Antonio Memorial, 57-14, on Friday night.
  • The FHS varsity volleyball team defeated Lampasas, 25-17, 25-18, 25-13, on Friday night in the FHS Gym.. The JV won, 25-11, 25-23, and the freshmen won, 25-22, 25-23.
  • FHS varsity tennis played two district teams on Saturday, defeating Wimberley, 10-1, and winning over Boerne, 10-0.
  • Cross country teams from FHS competed in the Marble Falls meet on Saturday morning while the Harper runners competed in the ASU Stampede in San Angelo.
  • Harper varsity football defeated Eldorado, 27-6, on Friday night.
  • The Harper volleyball teams did not play on Friday night.
  • Heritage football lost to San Antonio FEAST, 48-8, on Friday night.
  • Fredericksburg Middle School volleyball teams will be on the road tonight to play Mountain Valley. The B teams play at 5 p.m. and the A teams at 6 p.m.
