For those looking for some outdoor adventure, Enchanted Rock State Natural Area will be hosting upcoming hikes and a New Year’s Day run.

On Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 26-27, there will be a summit trail hike from 9:30-11 a.m. Participants will meet at the gazebo at the summit trail and should bring sturdy hiking boots or shoes and drinking water.

Attendees will learn the flora and fauna of the area as well as some natural and cultural history of the rock. No reservation is required to attend the hike.

Another event will be on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1.

The event will feature the cultural and natural history of the park, an interpretive jog/run with a ranger to see the park from the “healthy living” perspective, or a trip to the other side of the rock to see Enchanted Rock from a different point of view.

At 8:30 a.m., a three-mile run will occur with a park interpreter.

Beginning at 9:30 am, there will be a Summit Trail Hike. This is a guided hike to the summit of Enchanted Rock for those who want to learn about the rock and its history.

Occurring at noon, the Other Side of the Rock hike will let hikers take the trail to the other side of the rock.

At 2 p.m., another Summit Trail Hike will occur for those who missed the 9:30 a.m. hike.
