Thirty-one-year-old Robert Rendon, of San Angelo, (no relation to a local family) was given two life sentences on two accounts of aggravated assault by a San Antonio jury on Thursday, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department.
The charges came after a high-speed shootout that took place in San Antonio on April 19, 2014, as Rendon tried to escape from pursuing San Antonio police officers.
Rendon was on the run after shooting and wounding Fredericksburg Police Department Officer Bradley Durst twice during a traffic stop that had taken place in Fredericksburg.
Durst has since made a full recovery and returned to duty.
Rendon now awaits his trial in Gillespie County for the charge of attempted capital murder of Durst next month.
