
News • The 16th Annual Texas All-Star Big Band Bash begins today at Hill Top Café. Doors open at 5 p.m. and music starts at 5:45 p.m. The event benefits Fredericksburg Independent School District theater camps and music scholarships as well as Schreiner University’s Writer’s Program. (FVPS) will meet at 6 p.m. today at the Gillespie County Law Enforcement Center located at 1601 E. Main St. Alumni graduates from any of the 12 previously held Fredericksburg Citizen Police Academies, all FVPS members and their families, and all Fredericksburg Police Department officers and their families are invited to attend. The organization’s annual election of officers meeting will be followed by a covered dish meal and social. • Fredericksburg Farmer's Market will be open today, starting at 4 p.m., on the grounds of Pioneer Museum. Sports • Fredericksburg High School Team Tennis swept Kaufman yesterday, 11-0, in semifinal play at the UIL Team Tennis State Championships in College Station. The Billies are facing Abilene Wylie today in the finals, with action beginning at 8 a.m. Abilene Wylie defeated Longview Spring Hill, 11-0, yesterday. • Fredericksburg Middle School basketball teams are also in action today. The FMS seventh and eighth grade girls are traveling to Bandera where the B teams play at 5 p.m., and the A teams, 6 p.m. The seventh and eighth grade boys are playing Bandera at home, with the B teams getting under way at 5 p.m., followed by the A teams at 6 p.m. • The Fredericksburg Ladies’ Golf Association has a scramble scheduled today at Lady Bird Johnson Golf Course. |
