
News • Hill Country Builders Association will host its Parade Home Tour from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday. This weekend’s tour marks the second of two for the annual event that features nine homes in the Hill Country. Tickets are $10 per person per weekend. Children under 10 are free. Shepherd Theater with performances at 7:30 p.m. tonight and Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $29 for adults and $12 for children 17 and under. Final performances are scheduled next weekend. • Harper High School Band will be marching in the Area E Class 2A Championship on Saturday at East Central High School in San Antonio. • The LBJ State Park and Historic Site at Stonewall will host "Dairy Daze" from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. During the event at the Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm, milk processing techniques from 100 years ago will be demonstrated. • Marsha and Craig Hildreth will sponsor the second annual Buffalo Bluff Chili Cook Off and fundraiser on Saturday to benefit the Fredericksburg Food Pantry. The event will feature live music, silent and live auctions and chili prepared by 16 chili cooking teams. A donation of $15 will cover admission. Attendees are asked to bring chips, cornbread, salad or dessert to share as well as their own chair and drinks. This silver anniversary event’s festivities include food, wine, beer, music, specialty booths, food court and fun. General admission is $25 per person for adults; $5 per person for minors (under 21), and children under 12 are free. The $25 admission includes one souvenir wine glass and six tickets (to be used for three, two-ounce samples or one glass of wine). • Food, music, silent and live auctions and more will be on the menu for the “Denim and Diamonds” fundraiser from 7-10 p.m. Saturday at the existing Harper Community Hall. Purpose of the event is to raise funds for a replacement facility, the Harper Community Center. The Longhorn Cafe will provide the food. Silent and live auctions will be held with one-of-a-kind items for bid. Classical guitar music will be provided by Kevin McCormick. Individual tickets are available for $50 per person. The class takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday. • A presentation on snakes and the role they play will be given at the Enchanted Rock State Natural Area group pavilion at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. The program will be presented by Jared Holmes, biologist and educator at the Selah-Bamberger Ranch in Johnson City. • The 53rd annual St. Mary's School Turkey Dinner will be held Sunday under the white tent at the school. Turkey dinners will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets are $9 per plate in advance or $10 at the door. The biergarten will be open from noon to 4 p.m. There will also be prize drawings, paddle wheel games, a country store from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and a clown palace from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. • Hill Country Parent2Parent, a support group for parents and caregivers of children with special needs, will meet at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Presbyterian Church. All interested parents and caregivers are welcome to attend. Organizers ask those attending to arrange for childcare as none is available at this time. • All members and prospective members are invited to attend the Gillespie County Farm Bureau’s 67th Annual Meeting and Barbecue Meal on Sunday at the Gillespie County Farm Bureau Events Center. Registration begins at 3:30 p.m. followed by the meeting at 4 p.m. and the meal at 5:30 p.m. Guest speakers will be State Rep. Doug Miller and Russell Boening, president of the Texas Farm Bureau. The event will also include exhibits, door prizes, a bake sale and silent auction.
Sports • Fredericksburg High School varsity football will travel to Canyon Lake tonight. Kick-off is at 7:30 p.m. in Hawk Stadium. • Fredericksburg High School volleyball teams will be at home tonight in the FHS Gym to play Lytle. The varsity plays at 4:30 p.m. followed by the freshmen and JV games at 6 p.m. • The FHS varsity tennis team will play Lampasas at 9 a.m. on Saturday at Llano High School. • Harper High School varsity football will be in Center Point for a 7:30 p.m. game. • Harper volleyball will also be in Center Point tonight where the JV plays at 4 p.m. and the varsity at 5 p.m. • Heritage School varsity football will travel to Spring Branch Living Rock for a 7:30 p.m. game tonight. • St. Mary's football will play in the AIAL Championship at San Antonio Central Catholic at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
