The Fredericksburg High School band, also known as “The Pride of the Texas Hill Country,” received division one ratings from all three judges during their performance this past Saturday at the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Region XI Marching Contest in Hondo.

John Rauschuber, FHS band director, was pleased with the band’s performance.

“I felt that the band played beautifully and represented Fredericksburg High School at the highest level,” Rauschuber said.

The judges for the contest were Mark Whatley, director of bands for Canyon Lake High School; James Snider, retired director for East Central High School and John Bridges, retired director of bands for Alamo Heights High School.

Whatley was satisfied with the performance in every way.

“There was great balance and blend throughout the show,” he said. “Tuning was perfect tonight.  Marching execution was exemplary in every way and I want to give heartfelt salutations to the band and directors.”

Snider was pleased with the FHS band’s ability to balance their performance.

“Thanks for all of your attention to detail,” Snider said. “The FHS band had super dynamics and balance as well as lots of control and mature tone quality.  Excellent lower and upper body work.  They have the whole package.”

Bridges was really pleased with how the music and drill paired together.
