A “shot in the arm” was given to the Fredericksburg Convention and Visitor Bureau (CVB) Monday, Aug. 26, when Gillespie County commissioners divvied the entity a five-sevenths share of the county’s Hotel Occupancy Tax funds.
Based on actual collections from overnight accommodations during the third and fourth quarters of 2012 and the first two quarters of 2013, county commissioners noted they had a total of $311,256.45 to distribute.
A unanimous vote by commissioners then ear-marked the five-sevenths share, or $222,325, as the CVB’s portion to be received in two installments in October and April of next year.
Some of the remaining funds then will be distributed to local organizations who work to “put heads in beds” as their various activities and efforts promote overnight tourism in Gillespie County.
