September van der Stoel sings at a recent Canto concert.

A patriotic program titled, “God and Country: A Musical Tribute,” will be presented on Sunday, Sept. 13, by the Canto Chamber Choir.

The 3 p.m. concert will be performed in the Nimitz Ballroom at the National Museum of the Pacific War, 340 East Main Street.

Canto will be directed by Jerry Neuenschwander of Bandera and will be accompanied on piano by Charlene James of Fredericksburg.

For this concert, no tickets will be sold in advance, only at the door before the concert.

Adult admission is $20 and $5 for students, checks and cash only.

“The program has been scheduled and created specifically to memorialize the attack on our country on Sept. 11, 2001, and also to honor our military,” said Susan Rees, president of Canto.

Many may remember Canto’s concert on the 10th anniversary of “9/11,” she said. While the theme will be similar, the music will be completely different from the prior concert.

Featured will be traditional patriotic songs such as “God Bless America” and “The Star-Spangled Banner” as well as newer pieces such as “Patriot’s Prayer” and “God Bless the USA.”

Also included will be some sacred songs, including “It Is Well With My Soul” and “The Prayer” featuring soloist September Van der Stoel.
