A celebration with more than a century of history and tradition behind it returns Thursday through Sunday, Aug. 20-23, when the 127th Gillespie County Fair takes place.
Set for the Gillespie County Fair Grounds, the 127th Gillespie County Fair will include two days of live pari-mutuel horse racing, a carnival and midway, displays of agricultural and home products, a parade, queen’s contest, antique machinery displays, musical entertainment, mutton busting, domino tournament, livestock shows and more.
The event is sponsored by the Gillespie County Fair and Festivals Association, Inc.
And with the 127th Gillespie County Fair set to open tomorrow, Thursday, patrons are reminded that they can purchase tickets online in advance at www.gillespiefair.com.
Online tickets are priced the same as those sold at the gate, and can be purchased using credit or debit cards.

Fair opens Thursday
The 127th Gillespie County Fair opens tomorrow, Thursday, at 5 p.m. with free admission to the Gillespie County Fair Grounds.
There is a charge for the Moore’s Greater Shows carnival and midway, which also opens Thursday and continues throughout the weekend.
Wristbands will be sold by Moore’s Greater Shows each of the four days of the fair.
Wristbands are $25 each day.
On Thursday night, individuals can get a $5 discount on the wristbands by bringing two non-perishable food items.
