Each Fredericksburg Independent School District campus earned sufficient marks in the Texas Association Agency (TEA) accountability survey for 2015.
Linda Hicks, FISD assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction, presented a report Monday evening to the school board at its regular meeting.
Ronda Tomplait, FISD director of special programs, also briefed trustees on the school’s bilingual/English as a Second Language (ESL) program.
Accountability
Under the TEA’s current rating system, school districts and campuses in Texas either “met standard” or “need improvement.”
“I’m really pleased that every campus in the district met the standard,” Hicks said.
As a district, FISD met 35 of the 41 indicators. This included 21 of 27 performance rates and perfect scores of 10 and four in participation and graduation rates, respectively.
“Our campuses did very well,” said FISD Supt. Dr. Eric Wright. “I’m excited. I think teachers and kids work very hard. It’s one of our goals every year to at least meet the standard. We try to exceed the state averages in most all the categories we did. I’m pleased with that.”
Fredericksburg High School received four stars of distinction while meeting 30 of its 32 indicators.
Its distinctions came in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA), Science, Social Studies and Postsecondary Readiness.
Fredericksburg Middle School also received four stars of distinction and was nearly perfect on meeting indicators, making 27 of 28. Its distinctions came in Reading/ELA, Science, Closing Performance Gaps and Postsecondary Readiness.
At Fredericksburg Elementary School (paired together with Fredericksburg Primary School), 18 of 22 indicators were met while the school earned three stars: Reading/ELA, Science and Postsecondary Readiness.
Stonewall Elementary School was a perfect six for six in meeting indicators while earning distinction stars in Science and Closing Performance Gaps.
In other Gillespie County school districts, both Harper ISD and Doss Consolidated Common School District “Met Standard” in their campus reports.
