From the elongated, inverted U-shaped parking lot, a short walk will take a person directly to the front of most buildings on the Fredericksburg Middle School campus.
If it’s raining, they’ll have to keep their heads covered.
This will all change, possibly as soon as the end of the 2015-2016 school year.
Using $500,000 of the $16.5 million school bond approved in May by almost 88 percent of voters, the middle school will receive a new fence surrounding the buildings, along with canopies connecting the buildings.
“There is already some fencing in the back of the campus but more is being added to make it secure,” said Dalen Kirchner, FMS assistant principal. “FISD believes in safety first and we think the fence will provide the added security we need.”
FMS will also get have painting and flooring work done.
