      • Hill Country Red Hatters will hold their next monthly luncheon at 11:30 a.m. today at the Panda Chinese restaurant.

      • Fredericksburg Independent School District Board of Trustees on Tuesday night approved two budgets — one for Fiscal Year 2014-2015 (which ended yesterday) and one for 2015-2016. This new fiscal year’s budget carries projected revenues of $36.8 million and projected expenditures of $41.7 million. The district will need to use the fund balance to balance the budget. The trustees voted to keep the district tax rate the same for the ninth consecutive year, at $1.1462 per $100 valuation. In a unanimous vote, the board also approved the sale of bonds to Broadway Bank. The board also discussed the hiring of new teachers. More details of this meeting will be in the July 8 issue of theFredericksburg Standard-Radio Post.
 
      • The Doss Consolidated Common School District Board of Trustees on Tuesday night appointed Steve Olfers and Susan Connelly to serve on the board.

      •  A season that includes pari-mutuel horse racing, Night In Old Fredericksburg, Scholarship Fest, bull riding and the 127th Gillespie County Fair gets underway this weekend at the Gillespie County Fair Grounds. And just in time for the opening of the 2015 season, the new 127th Gillespie County Fair Catalog and Prize List magazine has been published. The 56-page, full-color magazine is included in this week’sFredericksburg Standard-Radio Post and will also be available free of charge at many of the advertisers in the publication.
Copies are also available at the Gillespie County Fair Grounds.

      • Nancy Bennett is back home after completing the Race Across USA, and she talks about her experience in this week's Fredericksburg Standard-Radio Post. The paper also includes a visit with some of the vendors at the Fredericksburg Farmer's Market.

     • Articles focusing on the Supreme Court's ruling on same-sex marriages, loss of federal funding for the Stonewall Head Start, Inc., and an update on the Gillespie County Jail are also featured in the Standard-Radio Post this week.

Sports

      • Fredericksburg’s Major Softball All-Stars won 13-6 against Kerrville last night. Fredericksburg will play for the championship Thursday night at 7 p.m. against the winner of Blanco and Kerrville, which will be determined tonight.
 
      • The Fredericksburg Minor Softball All-Stars lost to Boerne 2-1 last night. Fredericksburg and Boerne play again at 7 p.m. tonight in Burnet to determine the district champion.
