Gillespie Central Appraisal District may have finally found a new home.
The City of Fredericksburg will soon close on acquiring a 2.08 acre tract of land adjacent to the city’s consolidated warehouse on Friendship Lane, with the front portion of the site earmarked for lease to the appraisal district.
City council members approved a $300,000 contract for the land purchase from Mitchell Family Realty, LLC.
City Manager Kent Myers said the city has not begun negotiating a lease with the appraisal district as a site plan for a proposed facility has not been drawn up.
“There were two purposes of making the offer,” Myers said. “One is to try and accommodate the needs of the appraisal district for their new building and the back part of the property would allow for future expansion of our consolidated warehouse.”
